RECIPE :
LOW FAT PINEAPPLE ANGEL FOOD CAKE
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 box angel food cake mix (Betty Crocker used for this recipe)
- 1 large can (about 20 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- In a large bowl, combine the dry cake mix and the entire can of crushed pineapple with its juice. Stir the mixture well until all the dry mix is fully incorporated. (The mixture will become quite foamy.)
- Pour the batter into a 9×13 pan that has been lightly greased with nonstick cooking spray.
- Bake at 350°F for the time specified on the cake mix box for a pan of this size. The cake is done when the sides pull away from the pan, and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. This typically takes somewhere between 30 and 40 minutes.
- Remove the cake from the oven and place it on a wire rack to cool.
