- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup butter 1 stick, softened
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
For the Apple Filling:
- 2 cups apples peeled, cored, and chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8.5x4.5x2.5-inch loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon; set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the 2/3 cup granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until just combined.
- In a separate small mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and stir until combined. Pour in the milk and mix until smooth.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly.
- In another small mixing bowl, combine the chopped apples with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Pour half of the apple mixture over the batter in the pan, then spread the remaining batter over the apples. Top with the remaining apples and press them down slightly.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture evenly over the top of the bread.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 30 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread.
- Slice the bread and serve. Enjoy your delicious Amish Apple Fritter Bread!
