Burrata Bruschettas

Ingredients:

  • 1 large baguette: Sliced into 1/2 inch pieces, serving as the crispy base for the toppings.
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil: Used to brush the baguette slices before toasting, enhancing flavor and aiding in crisping.
  • 2 ripe tomatoes: Diced tomatoes provide juiciness and a sweet, slightly acidic taste, complementing the creamy burrata.
  • 1 cup of fresh basil leaves: Chopped basil adds a fragrant, herbal freshness characteristic of Italian cuisine.
  • 8 ounces of burrata cheese: The star ingredient, contributing luxurious creaminess and rich flavor.
  • Salt and pepper: Essential for seasoning the tomato-basil mixture, elevating their natural flavors.
  • Balsamic glaze: Provides a sweet, tangy contrast to the bruschettas, enriching their flavor profile.

Preparation Method:

  1. Prep the Baguette: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2 inch pieces and arrange them on a baking sheet. Lightly brush each slice with olive oil on both sides and season with salt if desired.
  2. Toast the Baguette: Bake the oiled baguette slices in the preheated oven until golden and crispy, about 10-15 minutes. Flip them halfway through to ensure even toasting. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the Tomato-Basil Topping: In a mixing bowl, combine the diced tomatoes and chopped fresh basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Gently mix to combine, being careful not to crush the tomatoes.
  4. Assemble the Bruschettas: On each toasted baguette slice, place a generous spoonful of the tomato-basil mixture. Tear or cut the burrata cheese into small pieces and place atop the tomato-basil mixture on each bruschetta.
  5. Final Touches: Drizzle each bruschetta with balsamic glaze for a sweet and tangy finish. Serve immediately while the bread is still crispy.
