Cheese Stuffed Meatloaf

“Cheese Stuffed Meatloaf is a savory delight that takes the classic meatloaf to a whole new level by concealing a gooey, cheesy surprise within.”

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup crushed saltines or bread crumbs if you don’t have the saltines around
  • 2 pounds ground meat (beef, sausage, turkey or a mix)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cloves crushed garlic
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (or BBQ sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • cheese 4 swiss cheese slices and shredded 1/4 cup colby & 1/4 cup monterey jack
  • some ketchup (or BBQ sauce) for the top

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a loaf pan with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground meats, bread crumbs, egg, garlic, onion, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Use your hands to mix, but avoid overmixing; just combine everything until well blended.
  3. Divide the meat mixture in half.
  4. Place half of the meat mixture into the loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  5. Layer the meat with the cheese slices and the shredded cheese.
  6. Top the cheese with the second half of the meat mixture, and be sure to seal the meatloaf around the edges to keep the cheese inside.
  7. Pour ketchup (or BBQ sauce) over the top of the meatloaf.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 60 minutes or until the meat is fully cooked.
