Baked Spaghetti and Meatballs

INGREDIENTS:

  • Meatballs (I used about 1½ doz homemade meatballs) **Meatballs were fully cooked
  • 24 oz jar marinara sauce (I used San Marzano Sauce)
  • ½ yellow onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (crushed)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • ¾  spaghetti noodles
  • 1-2 cups grated cheese (I used half Colby-jack, half mozzarella)
  • ½ cup grated parmesan

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. In a large cast-iron skillet, heat olive oil over medium-low heat, and sauté the onions until they become tender. Add the garlic and continue to sauté until the onions are soft.
  2. Add the cooked meatballs to the skillet.
  3. Pour in the marinara sauce and add a teaspoon of Italian seasoning. Heat the mixture over medium-low heat for about 20-30 minutes.
  4. In a separate large pot, cook the spaghetti noodles according to the package instructions, but be sure to undercook them by 2 minutes.
  5. Use a large slotted spoon to remove the meatballs from the sauce and set them aside.
  6. Transfer the cooked spaghetti into the marinara sauce using the same slotted spoon. Add about ½ cup of pasta cooking water. Gently stir to ensure the pasta is fully coated with the sauce.
  7. Place the cooked meatballs on top of the spaghetti.
  8. Sprinkle with grated cheese and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Bake at 350°F for approximately 20-30 minutes or until the dish is hot and bubbly, and the cheese is melted.
