Creamed Peas
Creamed Peas
Ingredients:
- 1 lb package of frozen petite peas
- 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup of finely diced sweet onion or shallots
- 2 cups of half and half or light cream
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon of granulated garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon of onion powder
- Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions:
- In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced onions and cook until translucent, approximately 2 minutes. Then, add the flour, stirring until it’s absorbed.
- Gradually whisk in the half and half. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then add the salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, onion powder, and nutmeg.
- Add the frozen peas to the saucepan, mixing until they are coated with the sauce.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat for 5-7 minutes or until the peas are just tender. Stir occasionally during cooking.
- Serve the creamy peas immediately. Enjoy!
