Best Fresh Peach Crisp

PEACH CRISP

Ingredients:

For the Peach Filling:

  • 8 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup organic sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter

For the Crispy Topping:

  • 2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter (2 sticks)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and brown sugar for the crispy topping. Add 1 cup of butter and mix on low speed until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  4. Peel and slice the peaches, placing them in a large bowl. Mix in the sugar mixture, stirring until the peaches are evenly coated.
  5. Pour the fruit mixture into a 9 x 13-inch baking dish or a 3-quart baking dish.
  6. Place the remaining 1/4 cup of butter, sliced, on top of the fruit mixture randomly.
  7. Spread the flour mixture evenly over the fruit.
  8. Bake uncovered at 400°F (200°C) for 45-55 minutes, or until the topping turns golden brown.
  9. Serve the warm peach crisp with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
