INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 large eggs eggs
  • 2 tablespoons minced onion
  • 1 tablespoon beef base
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 slices white bread
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (10.75 ounce) can water
  • 1 dash Worcestershire sauce

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Step 1: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, onion, beef base, and pepper. Tear the bread into large pieces and add it to the bowl. Let the bread soak briefly, then incorporate the ground beef into the egg-bread mixture. Shape the mixture into 8 patties.

     

  2. Step 2: Heat a large, sturdy skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties in the skillet until they’re nicely browned and the meat is no longer pink in the center, which should take about 8 minutes per side. Set the patties aside.

     

  3. Step 3: Discard any excess grease from the skillet. In the same skillet, whisk together the mushroom soup, water, and Worcestershire sauce until the mixture is smooth. Return the patties to the skillet, spooning the sauce over them to cover. Bring everything to a boil over medium-high heat. Then, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, and the flavors meld together, typically for about 20 minutes.
