Ingredients
  

For the brownies
  • 1 cup 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, melted Use melted salted butter for the brownie base.
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder For brownie mixture.
  • 2 cups 2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted) Sifting adds air for a lighter texture.
  • 2 cups 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 large 4 eggs Can substitute with unsweetened applesauce (1/4 cup per egg).
  • 4 tsp 4 tsp vanilla extract
For the frosting
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) salted butter, softened Use softened salted butter.
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup 1/4 cup Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting) Mix this with the frosting ingredients.
  • 3 cups 3 cups confectioners’ sugar

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking dish with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set it aside.
  2. In a stand mixer, combine the melted salted butter and 1/2 cup of cocoa powder. Blend until smooth using the paddle attachment.
  3. Add the sifted flour and white sugar, then mix well.
  4. Incorporate the eggs and vanilla, beating until just combined (don’t overmix).
  5. Pour the batter into your prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. After removing them from the oven, allow the brownies to stand for 15 minutes before frosting.
Frosting
  1. Combine the softened butter, whole milk, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, and confectioners’ sugar in a bowl.
  2. Mix until smooth and spread the frosting over the cooled brownies.

Notes
