  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C / 350°F. Grease a bread tin (21 x 11 cm / 8″ x 4″) or small cake tin with butter.

  8. Pour the remaining batter over the top. Dollop and swirl the remaining herbs, then place the rest of the cheese slices into the batter, pushing most of them below the surface.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden. Then, cover the bread with foil and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes (total baking time of 45 to 50 minutes), or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove from the oven and transfer the bread onto a cooling rack. Allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
