  • 1/2 onion thinly sliced onion

  • 2 cloves minced garlic

Dairy Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan
  • 1 cup shredded smoked gouda

Preparation and Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Melt the butter in an oven-proof skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced onion and cook until the edges start to brown, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and simmer until it bubbles and starts to thicken.
  • Slowly stir in the grated parmesan cheese.
  • Add the sliced zucchini and yellow squash, cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the smoked gouda on top.
  • Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese turns golden brown.

Notes

For best results, slice the zucchini and yellow squash evenly. Use fresh herbs like thyme or basil for added flavor. For a crispier topping, broil for 2-3 minutes after baking.
