Ingredients
  

Meat and Vegetables
  • 1 lb ground beef Can substitute with lentils or mushrooms for a vegetarian version.
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce Base
  • 1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt & pepper to taste
Pasta and Garnishes
  • 12 oz linguine pasta Can be substituted with any pasta type.
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish
  • Grated parmesan cheese, for topping
  • Garlic bread, for serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with diced onion over medium heat until the beef is fully cooked.
  2. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
Cooking the Sauce
  1. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
  2. Let the sauce simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Cooking the Pasta
  1. Meanwhile, cook the linguine according to the package directions. Drain the pasta well.
Serving
  1. Plate the linguine and ladle the sauce generously over it.
  2. Top with grated parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
  3. Serve with warm garlic bread on the side.

Notes
