Bread Base
  • 1 loaf baguette or Italian loaf, sliced
Toppings
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For a creamier texture, use fresh mozzarella.
  • 2 medium ripe tomatoes, sliced Sun-dried tomatoes can be used for a different flavor.
  • to taste fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tsp dried Italian herbs Other herbs like oregano or parsley can be added.
  • to taste salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • for drizzling olive oil

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the softened butter and minced garlic.
  3. Spread the garlic butter mixture over the slices of bread.
  4. Layer the sliced tomatoes on the bread, followed by the mozzarella cheese.
  5. Sprinkle with dried Italian herbs, salt, and pepper.
  6. Add fresh basil leaves on top.
  7. Drizzle with olive oil.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serving
  1. Serve warm. Cut it into smaller pieces for easy sharing.

Notes
