Ingredients
  

Fish Ingredients

  • 4 fillets Fillets white fish such as cod or tilapia Choose fresh fish for the best flavor.

Marinade Ingredients

  • 2 units Limes, juiced and zested
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fish sauce Can substitute with soy sauce or coconut aminos.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 unit Red chili, finely sliced Adjust based on heat preference.
  • 1 bunch Fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse white fish fillets under running water and pat thoroughly dry using paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, combine lime juice and zest, minced garlic, fish sauce, soy sauce, granulated sugar, and grated ginger. Mix well until the sugar dissolves.
  • Arrange fish fillets in a shallow dish. Pour the prepared marinade over the fillets, coating them evenly. Allow to marinate at room temperature for 15 to 20 minutes.

Cooking

  • Transfer marinated fish and all marinade liquid into a steaming dish. Scatter sliced red chili and half the chopped cilantro evenly over the fillets.
  • Place the steaming dish into a preheated steamer. Steam fish for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the fillets are opaque and flake easily with a fork.
  • Remove the dish from the steamer and garnish with remaining cilantro before serving.

Notes

Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro. Goes well with plain steamed rice or quinoa. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
