Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Lean ground beef works best
  • 1 package Texas Toast Look for thick slices for a sturdy base
  • 1 cup Sloppy Joe Sauce Store-bought or homemade, depending on your preference
  • 4 slices Cheese (American or Cheddar) Optional, adds extra flavor

Method

Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks, until evenly browned. If there’s excess grease, drain it.
  3. Stir in the Sloppy Joe sauce and let it simmer on low heat until the mixture thickens.
  4. While the mixture simmers, toast the Texas toast according to package directions until golden and crispy.
  5. Lay the toasted slices flat and spoon a generous amount of the beef and sauce mixture onto each slice.
  6. While the beef is hot, top each slice with a slice of cheese and allow it to melt.
