Ingredients

For the filling
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust Use a chilled pie crust to prevent sogginess.
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups pecan halves Use fresh pecans for best flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, granulated sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt.
  3. Evenly sprinkle the chocolate chips and pecan halves in the unbaked pie crust.
  4. Pour the syrup mixture over the chocolate chips and pecans in the crust.
Baking
  1. Bake the pie for 50 to 60 minutes. If the edges of the crust brown too quickly, cover them with foil.
  2. Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing.
