Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F and prepare a baking sheet by spraying it with nonstick spray.
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, crumble the ground beef and break it up well as it cooks. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until the meat is no longer pink.
- Drain the beef mixture and stir in the spices: chili powder, salt, pepper, cumin, onion powder, dried oregano, and paprika, along with 2 tablespoons of water. Mix well and let it simmer for about 3–4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly before spreading it over the puff pastry.
- Unroll the pastry dough on a flat surface and press it into a large rectangle. Spread the beef mixture evenly over the dough, followed by sprinkling on the shredded cheese.
- Starting from the long edge nearest to you, roll the dough tightly into a log. Seal the edge to secure the filling.
- Using a serrated knife, slice the roll into one-inch pieces, wiping the knife in between cuts to keep it clean.
Baking
- Arrange the pinwheels on your prepared baking sheet, leaving a bit of space between each one.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the pinwheels are golden brown and puffed up.
- Serve hot with your choice of garnishes!
