Cooking the Sausage
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the breakfast sausage, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks until browned.
Making the Gravy
- Once the sausage is fully cooked, introduce the butter, allowing it to melt.
- Sprinkle the flour, Slap Ya Mama®, black pepper, and garlic powder over the sausage, stirring well to ensure it’s coated evenly.
- Let the mixture cook for about 2-3 minutes before gradually pouring in the milk.
- Stir continuously until fully incorporated.
- Reduce the heat and let the gravy simmer until it thickens to your desired consistency.
Notes
Serve the gravy over freshly baked biscuits or grits. For leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to two months. Add a splash of milk when reheating if it thickens too much.
