Ingredients

For the Sauce

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 6 ounce can tomato paste
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 1 tablespoon salt

For the Ribs

  • 2 pounds beef back ribs

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a slow cooker, mix together the water, ketchup, tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, mustard, and salt. Stir well to dissolve the brown sugar and salt completely.
  • Place the beef back ribs into the sauce and stir so they are well coated.
  • Set the slow cooker to Low, cover it, and cook for 8 hours.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the ribs in the sauce for a few hours or overnight before cooking. If you like spicy food, add some hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the sauce mixture. Finishing the ribs under the broiler for a few minutes after cooking adds a crispy texture. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
