Ingredients
  

For the apple filling
  • 6 pieces apples Use a mix of tart and sweet apples such as Granny Smith and Honeycrisp.
  • 0.5 tsp grated nutmeg Adjust to taste.
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon Adjust to taste.
  • 2 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp white sugar
  • 0.5 pieces juice of half a lemon
For the crumble topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with self-raising flour.
  • 1 cup porridge oat
  • 125 g butter Use melted or cold softened butter.
  • 1 cup light brown sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 0.25 tsp salt A pinch to balance sweetness.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (375°F) and prepare your baking dish.
  2. Peel, core, and chop the apples, then transfer them into the baking pan.
  3. In a bowl, mix the chopped apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Combine well, then add half the juice of the lemon and stir again.
Making the crumble
  1. In another bowl, mix the oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, cold butter, and a pinch of salt. Rub the ingredients with your fingers until you achieve a breadcrumbs-like consistency.
  2. Sprinkle the crumble topping consistently over the apple mixture in the baking pan.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping is crispy and golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving.

Notes
