Ingredients
  

Dumpling Filling
  • 1 cup shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, cabbage, bell pepper, etc.) Feel free to substitute with sliced mushrooms or peas.
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • to taste water for sealing Use to moisten dumpling wrappers.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, mixed vegetables, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Mix everything until well incorporated.
  2. Take a dumpling wrapper and spoon a small amount of the shrimp filling into the center.
  3. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold it in half, pinching the edges together firmly to seal.
  4. Repeat this process until all your filling is used up.
Cooking
  1. Arrange the dumplings in a steamer basket, and steam them for about 10-12 minutes, or until the shrimp is cooked through.
  2. Serve with soy sauce or a dipping sauce of your choice for an added burst of flavor.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To freeze uncooked dumplings, place them on a baking sheet until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag for up to 2 months. Reheat by steaming for about 5-7 minutes from frozen. Keep wrappers covered with a damp cloth to prevent them from drying out.
