Ingredients
  

Cream Cheese Layer
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Make sure at room temperature for easy whipping.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sift if lumpy.
  • 1/4 cup milk Adjust slightly to reach a spreadable texture.
  • 1 tsp mint extract Start with 3/4 tsp for a subtler mint.
  • green food coloring A few drops for that Shamrock Shake look (optional).
  • 1 container whipped topping (8 oz) Thawed if frozen.
Cookie Layer
  • 2 cups crushed chocolate cookies Oreos or chocolate wafer cookies work well.
For Garnishing
  • chocolate syrup For drizzling.
  • mint leaves For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl until smooth and lump-free using a hand mixer on medium speed for about 1–2 minutes.
  2. Add the milk, mint extract, and a few drops of green food coloring. Mix until fully combined and the color is even. Taste and adjust mint if needed.
  3. Gently fold in the whipped topping using a rubber spatula, just until incorporated to keep the mixture light and airy.
  4. Place 1 cup of the crushed chocolate cookies evenly in the bottom of a trifle dish or rectangular serving dish. Press lightly for an even base.
  5. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cookie layer and smooth the top with an offset spatula.
  6. Add a second layer of the remaining crushed cookies, pressing gently, then spread the remaining cream cheese mixture on top.
  7. Drizzle chocolate syrup decoratively across the surface and tuck a few fresh mint leaves into the center as garnish.
Chilling
  1. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably 3–4 hours, so the layers set and flavors meld. Serve chilled.

Notes

For a cleaner slice, refrigerate overnight. If desired, mix a tablespoon of melted butter into the crushed cookies before pressing for a firmer base. Avoid freezing as whipped topping and cream cheese textures change when frozen and thawed.
