Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion and your chosen seasonings until the meat is fully cooked. Drain off any extra fat.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked ground beef and onion with the can of cream of potato soup. Mix everything together well.
- Take a 13x9 inch baking pan and place the uncooked scalloped potatoes in an even layer at the bottom.
- Prepare the sauce mix that comes with the scalloped potatoes according to the package directions.
- Spread the hamburger and cream of potato mixture evenly over the layer of uncooked scalloped potatoes in the baking pan.
- Pour the sauce mixture over everything in the pan evenly.
Baking
- Bake uncovered in the oven for 25 minutes.
- While the casserole is baking, cook the chopped bacon in a skillet until crispy. Set the bacon aside to cool.
- After 25 minutes, take the pan out of the oven. Top the casserole with crispy bacon pieces and as much shredded cheese as you like.
- Put the pan back in the oven for another 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving again.
