Preparation
- In a bowl, mix the ground beef with chopped onions, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Shape this mixture into 6-8 patties.
Cooking
- Heat butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side. Remove them from the skillet and set them aside.
- In the same skillet, add flour (or cornstarch). Stir for about a minute to eliminate any rawness. Gradually pour in the beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce and the optional tomato paste or mustard, stirring to combine.
- Return the patties to the skillet, allowing them to simmer in the gravy for 5-10 minutes to soak up all that deliciousness.
- If desired, stir in sliced mushrooms, thyme, or a splash of cream before serving.

Notes
