Cooking Steps
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and add your pasta. Cook according to package instructions. Once al dente, drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onions and peppers. Sauté until tender and translucent, about 4-5 minutes.
- Add the hot Italian sausage to the skillet. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
- If using, add the diced mushrooms to the pan and sprinkle with a pinch of salt. Sauté until soft and wilted, about 3-4 minutes.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the Boursin cheese in chunks. As it melts, gradually mix in the milk or cream until achieving desired sauce consistency.
- Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss until well-coated in the creamy sauce. Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
- Plate and enjoy this hearty dish!
