Salted Caramel Stuffed Brownies

Indulge in these decadent chocolate brownies filled with gooey salted caramel, a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness that will satisfy your dessert cravings.

Ingredients
  

For the brownies:
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz dark chocolate chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the salted caramel:
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

Equipment

  • 8-inch square baking pan
  • Heatproof bowl
  • Saucepan

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. For the brownies, melt butter and chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pan of simmering water. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  3. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 20 minutes.
  4. While the first layer bakes, make the caramel. Melt sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once fully melted, add butter and stir until combined. Slowly drizzle in heavy cream while stirring. Boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat. Stir in sea salt.
  5. Pour caramel over the baked brownie layer. Top with remaining brownie batter. Bake for another 20-25 minutes.
  6. Let cool in pan, then slice into squares. Enjoy!

Notes

Allow the brownies to cool completely before slicing to ensure clean cuts and easy removal from the pan.
