Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) For added spice
  • to taste Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the trimmed green beans with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to coat the beans evenly.
  3. Add minced garlic and optional red pepper flakes, and toss again.
  4. Spread the green beans on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
Roasting
  1. Roast in the oven for 15 minutes.
  2. Remove the baking sheet and sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the green beans.
  3. Return to the oven and roast for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and slightly golden, and green beans are tender-crisp.
  4. Let cool slightly, then serve warm. Optionally, add lemon wedges for an extra zing.

Notes
