Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Scrub your potatoes thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt, then pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Poke holes all over each potato with a fork to allow steam to escape during baking.
- Rub each potato with olive oil until evenly coated. Then, sprinkle coarse salt over all sides for great flavor.
Baking
- Place the potatoes directly on the middle oven rack. To catch any drips, you can put a baking sheet on the rack below.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork.
Serving
- Remove the potatoes from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Slice each potato open lengthwise and fluff the insides with a fork.
- Add your favorite toppings and enjoy while hot!
Notes
Baked potatoes can be topped with butter, sour cream, cheese, bacon bits, and herbs for variations. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-5 days.
