Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs Ribeye steak (2-inch long thin slices)
  • 1 piece red bell pepper (chopped into bite-size pieces)
  • 1 piece green bell pepper (chopped into bite-size pieces)
  • 1 medium white onion (chopped into bite-size pieces)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided in half) 1 tbsp for cooking steak, 1 tbsp for vegetables
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp ginger (minced)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • 1¼ cups beef broth
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Method

Cooking the Steak
  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tbsp vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the steak to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  3. Once done, remove from the skillet and set aside on a plate.
Sautéing Vegetables
  1. Add the remaining 1 tbsp of vegetable oil to the skillet.
  2. Next, toss in the chopped peppers and onions, cooking for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender.
Combine and Simmer
  1. Return the cooked steak back into the skillet.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together garlic, black pepper, ginger, brown sugar, soy sauce, beef broth, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Stir until well combined then pour this mixture into the skillet.
  3. Bring the whole mixture to a simmer and cook for 4-5 minutes until the sauce starts to thicken.
Serving
  1. Serve hot over rice and garnish with sesame seeds.
  2. Enjoy!

Notes

For best flavor, ensure that your pan is heated properly before adding the steak. Allow the steak to rest after cooking for juicier bites. Customize your dish by adding other vegetables like mushrooms or zucchini.
