  • 1 pound asparagus, trimmed Choose fresh asparagus that is bright green and firm.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For cooking.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Add during the last 1-2 minutes of cooking.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season according to preference.
  • Lemon wedges for serving Optional, for extra flavor.

Cooking

  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the trimmed asparagus to the skillet and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until the asparagus is tender but still crisp.
  • Add the minced garlic during the last 1-2 minutes of cooking to prevent it from burning.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Best eaten within 2-3 days for optimal taste and texture. For extra flavor, sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top just before serving. You can also add cherry tomatoes or bell peppers for extra color and taste. A sprinkle of red pepper flakes can add a nice kick!
