Ingredients
  

Meatloaf Base
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor and juiciness)
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped (button or cremini)
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 whole egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease or line a shallow baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, add the ground beef, finely chopped mushrooms, shredded Swiss, chopped onion, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon until the ingredients are evenly combined. Don’t overwork the meat.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf about 8–9 inches long and place it in the prepared baking dish. Smooth the top lightly.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center reads 160°F (70°C).
  2. Remove from the oven and let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes
