Ingredients

For the Pretzel Twists
  • 10 cups mini pretzels (1 bag, 16 oz)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cubed (1 stick)
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup Can substitute with honey or maple syrup.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 bag Heath toffee bits Can substitute with chocolate chips or crushed nuts.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). Lightly grease a large roasting pan with cooking spray, and add the pretzels to the pan; set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, cubed butter, and corn syrup. Place over medium heat, stirring consistently for about 5 minutes until it comes to a boil.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the vanilla extract and baking soda. Watch for bubbling!
  4. Pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the pretzels, then sprinkle half of the toffee bits over them. Toss to ensure an even coating.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even baking.
  6. Once done, spread the pretzel mixture onto a wax paper-lined countertop and sprinkle with the remaining toffee bits. Allow to set for 1 hour before breaking into bite-sized clusters.
