Preparation
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
- Shape the mixture into small patties, about the size of your mini buns.
- Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly oil the surface and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until they are browned and cooked through.
- While the patties are cooking, slice the buns in half if they are not pre-sliced, and lightly toast them.
Assembly
- On a baking tray, place the bottom halves of the buns and spread a layer of pizza sauce.
- Add the cooked burger patty on top, followed by another dab of sauce, mozzarella cheese, and optional toppings.
- Preheat the oven and bake the assembled burgers for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
