Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the ground beef. Cook for about 10 minutes until it's crumbly, browned, and no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
- Stir in the water and taco seasoning. Let the mixture cook and thicken for 5 to 10 minutes.
Layering
- Arrange 3 tortillas in the bottom of your greased casserole dish. Spread on half the can of refried beans and top with half of the seasoned ground beef.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of Colby-Jack cheese over the beef layer.
- Layer 3 more tortillas on top, followed by the remaining refried beans and half the jar of taco sauce, topped with another cup of cheese.
- Place 3 more tortillas, the remaining ground beef, and another cup of cheese on top.
- Finish with the last 3 tortillas and spread the remaining taco sauce over them.
Baking
- Bake the lasagna for 20 to 25 minutes until the top layer of tortillas begins to brown.
- Sprinkle the final cup of Colby-Jack cheese over the top and place under the broiler for 3 to 5 minutes until it's melted and bubbling.
