Ingredients

Meatloaf:
  • - ¾ cup milk
  • - ⅔ cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • - 2 large eggs
  • - 2 teaspoons dried minced onion
  • - 1 teaspoon salt
  • - ½ teaspoon rubbed sage
  • - 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • - ½ cup sliced fresh mushrooms
Glaze:
  • - ¼ cup ketchup
  • - 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • - 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • - ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Equipment

  • 5-quart slow cooker
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk

Method

  1. Prepare the meatloaf: In a large bowl, whisk together milk, bread crumbs, eggs, minced onion, salt, and sage.
  2. Stir in ground beef and mushrooms until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into a round loaf and place it into a 5-quart slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on Low until a meat thermometer reads 160°F (71°C), for 5 to 6 hours.
  5. Prepare the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
  6. Open the slow cooker and spoon the glaze over the meatloaf. Cover and continue to cook on Low until the sauce is heated through, about 15 minutes.
  7. Carefully remove the meatloaf with two spatulas to a serving plate. Cover with foil and let stand for 10 minutes before cutting.

Notes

- Customize the seasoning and add-ins according to your taste preferences.
- Ensure the meatloaf reaches the correct internal temperature for safe consumption.
- Letting the meatloaf stand before cutting allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a moist and delicious dish.
