Ingredients
  

  • - 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • - 1 cup white sugar
  • - 1 cup milk
  • - 2 large eggs
  • - ½ cup butter softened
  • - 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • - ½ teaspoon salt
  • - 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, milk, eggs, butter, baking powder, vanilla, and salt.
  • Mix slowly to moisten, then beat with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes until smooth.
  • Reserve 3/4 cup batter; pour remaining batter into the prepared pan.
  • Stir cocoa into reserved batter until evenly colored.
  • Drop chocolate batter onto vanilla batter by spoonfuls; swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool briefly before inverting onto a serving plate or cooling rack. Let cool completely.
