Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb sirloin steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • to taste fresh parsley for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Take the sirloin steak out of the fridge and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and smoked paprika.
  4. Rub the steak with olive oil, then sprinkle the spice mix all over the steak, pressing it in gently.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steak and sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side, until nicely browned.
  2. Add the soy sauce and butter to the skillet. Spoon the melted butter over the steak.
  3. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and cook for about 5-7 minutes for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer it more done.
  4. Remove the skillet from the oven and let the steak rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.
  5. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.

Notes

Always let your steak rest before slicing to help the juices redistribute, making it more tender. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness—aim for 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare. Feel free to adjust the spices based on your taste.
