Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for less grease.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning Follow package instructions.
  • 1 can (15 oz) refried beans Use any variety you like.
  • 1 cup salsa Choose your favorite salsa.
  • 2 cups shredded cheese Cheddar or Mexican blend works well.

Toppings

  • diced tomatoes
  • sliced black olives
  • chopped green onions
  • sour cream
  • avocado

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat and add the taco seasoning. Follow package instructions for seasoning.
  • In a baking dish, spread the refried beans evenly at the bottom.
  • Layer the seasoned beef on top of the beans.
  • Pour the salsa over the beef layer.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheese on top, covering it completely.

Baking

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before adding your favorite toppings such as diced tomatoes, sliced olives, green onions, sour cream, and avocado.

Serving

  • Serve warm with tortilla chips.

Notes

Make sure to drain the beef well to keep the dip from being too greasy. Feel free to mix and match your toppings based on what you like. For an extra kick, you can add some diced jalapeños to the beef layer.
