Ingredients

Chaffle Ingredients
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Freshly shredded melts better than pre-shredded
  • 1 large egg Binds and adds structure
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder Optional for a slightly airier chaffle
  • 1 pinch salt To taste
  • 1 spray cooking spray Optional — helps release and crisp

Method

Preparation
  1. Plug in and preheat the waffle maker until fully hot.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine shredded mozzarella, egg, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir until evenly combined into a sticky batter.
  3. If necessary, lightly spray the waffle plates with cooking spray.
Cooking
  1. Pour about half the mixture into the center of the waffle grid. Close and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until the surface is deeply golden and edges are crisp.
  2. Lift the chaffle onto a wire rack for 1-2 minutes to let steam escape.
  3. Repeat with the remaining batter to make a second chaffle.
Serving
  1. Enjoy warm with your preferred toppings or use as a sandwich base.
