Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 2 cups shredded pepper jack cheese Can substitute with cheddar cheese.
  • 4 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 2 jalapenos (seeds removed and diced)
  • ½ cup diced green onion
Dredging Station
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1½ - 2 cups breadcrumbs Adjust to preference.
  • 2 teaspoons Slay Ya Mama seasoning Can substitute with your favorite spice mix.
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1-2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the pepper jack cheese, cream cheese, diced jalapenos, and green onions until well blended.
  2. Roll the mixture into small balls and place them on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  3. Refrigerate the balls while you prepare your dredging station.
  4. In one dish, add the all-purpose flour.
  5. In another bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk together.
  6. In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs and seasonings.
  7. Roll each ball in the flour, dip it into the egg mixture, and then coat with breadcrumbs, repeating for extra crunch.
Cooking
  1. In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  2. Fry about 4-6 balls at a time until golden brown on all sides.
  3. Remove the bites and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess oil.

Notes
