- Place ground beef into a large bowl.
- In a small bowl, stir together brown sugar, sage, salt, basil, black pepper, onion powder, marjoram, and red pepper flakes.
- Sprinkle the spice mixture over the ground beef and use your hands to mix until evenly distributed. Cover and refrigerate for about 24 hours to allow the flavors to blend.
- Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions and shape into patties.
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties in batches, until firm and no longer pink in the center, about 5 to 7 minutes per side. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches at least 160°F (70°C).
