Preparation
- In a bowl, mix together 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1/2 cup warm water, 3 tablespoons honey, and 1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast. Allow it to stand until bubbly, roughly 5 minutes.
- Add in 1 1/2 cups of warm milk and stir gently to combine.
- Melt 5 tablespoons of unsalted butter in the microwave and set aside.
Mixing the Dough
- Gradually incorporate 2 cups of bread flour into the mixture, mixing with a dough hook until blended.
- Add the melted butter and 1 tablespoon salt. Then fold in 2 more cups of bread flour until the dough begins to take shape.
- Knead the dough for 7 to 10 minutes, adding more flour as necessary until it becomes smooth.
- Allow the dough to rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Baking
- Shape the dough as desired, place in a greased loaf pan, and let it rise again for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove from oven and brush with 3 tablespoons melted butter.

Notes
