Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the potatoes into ¼-inch thick rounds.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in the ground beef and brown it well. Season with Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Grease a baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Layer half of the potato slices at the bottom.
- Add half of the beef mixture over the potatoes, followed by half of the cheddar cheese.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheddar.
- Carefully pour the beef broth and optional milk over the top.
Baking
- Cover with foil and bake for 35-40 minutes.
- Remove the foil, top with Parmesan, and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow it to rest for 5 minutes before garnishing with fresh parsley and serving warm.
