Ingredients

For the apple filling
  • 6 pieces sweet apples Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for balanced flavor.
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • 2 tsp coconut oil For sautéing the apples.
For the crumble topping
  • 2/3 cup oats Use certified gluten-free oats for a gluten-free version.
  • 2/3 cup pecans Can substitute with other nuts or seeds.
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil For the crumble mixture.
  • 2 tsp honey Can substitute with maple syrup for a vegan version.

Method

Preparation
  1. Chop the apples and sauté them in a pan with the cinnamon, salt, and 2 tsp coconut oil over medium-high heat. Cover the pan for 2-3 minutes to soften the apples.
  2. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  3. In a small bowl, add all crumble topping ingredients into a food processor. Add a splash of water (about 1 tbsp) and process until you achieve a crumbly mixture that sticks together.
Baking
  1. Prepare a small baking pan by oiling the surface or lining it with parchment paper. Spread the sautéed apples evenly in the pan.
  2. Squeeze the crumble mixture to form larger pieces and distribute them over the apples.
  3. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crumble turns golden brown.
Serving
  1. Allow it to cool for a bit and enjoy with milk or yogurt for breakfast, or indulge with a scoop of ice cream for dessert.
