Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth, then mix in the honey and peanut butter until well combined.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract, then add the cocoa powder, whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold until just combined.
  4. Fold in the dark chocolate chips and crushed nuts if desired.
  5. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  7. Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then cut into squares and enjoy.
