Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x9-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth, then mix in the honey and peanut butter until well combined.
- Stir in the vanilla extract, then add the cocoa powder, whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt. Gently fold until just combined.
- Fold in the dark chocolate chips and crushed nuts if desired.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Allow brownies to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack, then cut into squares and enjoy.
