Ingredients
Method
Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form the mixture into patties.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are brown and cooked through. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
Gravy Preparation
- Add flour to the drippings in the skillet and whisk it to make a roux. Cook for about a minute until it bubbles.
- Slowly pour in beef broth while whisking. Then add Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Let the gravy simmer and thicken, which should take about 3-5 minutes.
- Place the hamburger steaks back in the skillet, soaking them in the gravy. Let it all simmer for an additional 2 minutes.
- Serve the Hamburger Steaks hot, and garnish with chopped parsley if you like.
Notes
Make sure to season the beef mixture well for more flavor. Don’t overcrowd the skillet when cooking the patties; cook them in batches if necessary. Stir the gravy constantly while it thickens to avoid lumps.
