Ingredients
  

For the custard
  • 3 tbsp mango flavored custard powder
  • 3/4 cup milk for dissolving custard powder
  • 1 cup milk additional for cooking custard
  • 1/2 cup Gulab Jamun Syrup to sweeten the custard
For the trifle layers
  • 1 small pound cake sliced
  • 2 mangoes diced for layering
  • 1 cup summer berries for layering
  • 4 pieces Gulab Jamuns for topping

Method
 

Prepare the custard
  1. In a glass bowl, dissolve the custard powder in 3/4 cup of cold milk until no lumps are visible. Set aside.
  2. In a heavy-bottom saucepan, bring 1 cup of remaining milk to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the Gulab Jamun Syrup to sweeten the milk.
  4. Lower the heat and gradually mix the prepared custard milk into the saucepan, stirring continuously.
  5. Simmer for about 3 minutes until the custard thickens. Remove from heat and transfer to a large glass bowl to cool completely.
Assemble the trifle
  1. Layer the bottom of a trifle dish with slices of pound cake.
  2. Top with some mango custard.
  3. Arrange a few cut strawberry slices against the sides of the trifle dish.
  4. Add finely chopped mangoes and berries on top of the custard layer.
  5. Repeat the layering process until you run out of ingredients, finishing the top layer with fruits and the halved Gulab Jamuns.

Notes
