Greek Chicken Gyros

Enjoy the authentic flavors of Greek cuisine with these delicious chicken gyros, filled with tender grilled chicken, fresh vegetables, and homemade tzatziki sauce, all wrapped in warm pita bread.

Ingredients
  

For the Chicken:

  • 4 chicken thighs boneless and skinless
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Tzatziki:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber grated and drained
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Serving:

  • 4 pita bread
  • 1 small red onion thinly sliced
  • 2 tomatoes sliced
  • 1/2 cucumber sliced

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, combine chicken thighs with olive oil, minced garlic, dried oregano, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Allow to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Grill the marinated chicken over medium-high heat until cooked through, approximately 5-7 minutes per side.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the tzatziki. In a bowl, mix together Greek yogurt, grated and drained cucumber, minced garlic, olive oil, chopped fresh dill, salt, and pepper. Chill until ready to use.
  • Warm the pita bread.
  • Slice the cooked chicken into strips.
  • To assemble the gyros, spread tzatziki on each warmed pita bread. Top with sliced chicken, red onion, tomato, and cucumber slices.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious Greek Chicken Gyros!

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding sliced red bell peppers, olives, or feta cheese to your gyros.
