Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Set a pot of water on the stove to boil for the pasta.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the ground beef and chopped onions. Sprinkle ground black pepper on top. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent.
- Add minced garlic in the last minute of cooking. Drain any excess grease, if needed.
- When the water is boiling, add the macaroni. Cook it for just a few minutes until it is almost done, then drain it and set aside. It will continue cooking in the oven.
Combining Ingredients
- In the skillet with the beef and onions, stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, sugar, and the herbs.
- Add the cheddar cheese and mix until it melts. Then, stir in the cooked macaroni until well combined.
Baking
- Pour the mixture into a 2-quart casserole dish that has been sprayed with oil.
- Top with mozzarella cheese and bake for 30 minutes.
- Allow it to rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
