Ingredients
Method
Make the Dough
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk, granulated sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow this mixture to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add in the melted butter and egg, stirring until blended well.
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-10 minutes, until it's smooth and elastic.
- Transfer the dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about one hour or until it doubles in size.
Prepare the Filling
- In a small bowl, blend the softened butter, granulated sugar, and orange zest into a spreadable paste.
Assemble the Rolls
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle of about 15 x 9 inches.
- Spread the orange butter filling evenly over the rolled-out dough, ensuring it reaches the edges.
- Starting from the long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log and seal the seam. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking dish, making sure to leave some space between them. Cover and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
Make the Glaze
- While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar and orange juice in a small bowl until smooth.
Glaze the Rolls
- Drizzle the orange glaze over the warm rolls as soon as they come out of the oven.
- Allow them to cool slightly before serving.
